Ladies wanting to slim down for an upcoming Christmas party are crunching away on veggies. This latest diet fad where dieters only eat raw vegetables is proving popular. The raw food diet is not a break-through in dieting. The option has been around for years but has become popular in the run-up to the Christmas party and holiday season.
Medical experts say it is possible to shed a bit of weight before a Christmas party by eating more raw foods. Experts also give a word of caution to dieters because it is also possible to deplete the body of essential nutrients using this diet method.
Dr. Anjlee Sheth says: “A raw-food diet involves making sure everything you eat and drink remains as natural as possible. All cooked, processed or altered food is eliminated. It’s seen as health because food has not had any contact with chemicals or heat which destroy structures within food.”
Christmas party goers are likely to lose weight on a raw-food diet because it cuts out sugary and fried foods.
“Although eating a raw-food diet makes theoretical sense, there’s not much scientific proof that it’s better than a standard healthy diet. It doesn’t appear to help you lose weight faster than, for example, the GI diet.”
