Decorate for Impact on New Years Eve
19/12/2007

To avoid the stresses that come with decorating on New Year’s Eve, plan your attack ahead of time. Hostesses need to decide the areas of the home to spruce up and buy the items needed before the day of the party.

Party planners recommend creating a notebook where you can keep cutouts of inspirational pictures. Plan your colours, themes, menu and recipes for New Year’s Eve and keep the ideas together in a notebook. Hostesses can also jot down notes about the party afterwards about what worked well and what to do differently next year.

For the most impact on New Year’s Eve there are specific areas of a home that need decorating. These include: the hall leading to the front door, the front door, the dining table, drinks table and guest bathroom.

Create simple luminaries along your walkway by filing white paper bags with a few inches of sand and tea lights. Add a festive wreath on the front door using touches of a specific colour that can carry in decorations throughout the home. Continue the use of candles and tea lights on the dining table and drinks table and guest bathroom. Natural lighting adds a festive and fresh touch to any party.
