Sven look-alike aims to be sound of Christmas
15/09/2006

A Sven Goran Eriksson look-alike could be the sound of this year's Christmas parties after a Seaford musician announced he was aiming for a top ten chart position.

Chris Conil has written a tongue-in-cheek song called Spent/Gone Erik's Song about the Swedish former England football manager, reports the Sussex Express.

The project has not been confirmed, but along with lyricist Mike Green, Mr Conil hopes to attract the attention of record companies across the UK.

However, the would-be chart toppers are relying on Eriksson remaining in the public spotlight to ensure their song stays relevant.

Mr Conil told the newspaper: "We have had a lot of interest from quite a lot of record companies and it is all coming together as a project.

"As long as Sven stays in the news, the whole idea might carry on."

The group, which is called CC Amore and the Spenettes, was formed following an advertisement which looked for singers and musicians.

Other regular Christmas party songs include Wham's Last Christmas, the Pogues' Fairytale of New York and Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney.
