The Kooks Forced to Change Venue
11/04/2008

The Kooks played a last-minute acoustic show in London on April 9th after being forced to change venues at short notice.

The band were due to perform a private gig for competition winners at a shop in London, but were forced to move to the Fly venue on New Oxford Street with very little notice.

No reason for the last-minute change of venue has been released but it appears to be down to an administrative mix-up.

The change of venue didn’t put off fans however: the queues stretched around the block. The competition winners had been placed on a guest list, and so were admitted ahead of the crowd, but 300 fans managed to squeeze into Fly’s small basement venue.

The gig was generally judged a success: the gig was played as a duet between guitarist Hugh Harris and the band’s frontman Luke Pritchard. They performed some of The Kooks’ most popular hits such as 'She Moves In Her Own Way'. The duo then played some songs from the band’s new album.

At one point Pritchard asked for requests: "Do you want us to play anything?" he said.

The Kooks’ second album ‘Konk’ is due to be released on Monday 14th April.
